Spring Beauty Must-Haves

Welcome back to my unintentional two-part beauty blog post! Last week I highlighted some of my favorite skincare products that I’m currently using and absolutely loving. Today I’m going to chat about some of the beauty products I use in my everyday routine.

A little back story about my beauty journey: I have always been naive when it comes to makeup. I was never properly taught how to apply makeup, nor what products to use. When I hit my teenage years, I bought random products from the grocery store. When I got to college, I bought literally whatever had the cheapest price on it, and that was my criteria for what products to purchase.

As I mentioned in last week’s post, my journey to find my skincare routine really went hand-in-hand with finding beauty products, as well. When I started caring about what skincare products I was using on my face, I came to the realization that the makeup products I was using contained a ton of ingredients that were not healthy for my skin. Using organic skincare products and then caking on $5 foundation was counteractive, and it had to stop.

That’s when I discovered (through chatting with Cocokind on Instagram) bareMinerals. bareMinerals is a clean beauty brand who specialize in mineral-based cosmetics. These are the products I use everyday.

Face & Eyes

These are the products I start my makeup routine with. I begin with applying a pump of the foundation primer evenly to my face. I then add one pump of foundation to the top of my hand and use a foundation brush (I use Sonia Kashuk’s flat top brush from Target) to apply the foundation on my face. I love love love this foundation because 1. It gives me the full coverage I’m looking for in a foundation (thank u, acne scars), and 2. It is so breathable and light-weight. Before I used this foundation, the products I would use were so thick and cakey, it was terrible. Also, my old foundations never matched my skin tone, which is a completely different issue. BareMinerals helped me match my skintone to their products, which has made a significant difference in my cosmetic game. Needless to say, pre-bareMineral Becca was riding the struggle bus.

The concealer also works beautifully with the foundation. Both come in the same shades so you can match, and it has the same breathability as the foundation. I’ll usually put a base coat of foundation on, and then use the concealer for under-eye circles and acne scars.

Okay, so before I started using bareMinerals, I was not a bronzer/blush gal. I would cake foundation (that didn’t match my skin tone) on, and call it a day. I have loved experimenting with these powder products. Since I have a fair skin tone, the bronzer is great for adding a little color to my face, as well as the blush. As my best friend, Chloe, advised me as I asked about blush application, a little goes a long way.

I don’t wear mascara very often, but when I do, I love using this one. It applies really smooth and makes my lashes look super long and voluminous.

If you know me IRL, you know that my makeup look is usually pretty natural, and these lip colors definitely bring my look together. They are settle enough to blend with my natural look, yet bold enough to make a statement. I’m obsessed with bareMineral’s matte lipstick. It applies to smooth and stays on all day. My favorite matte color that I wear is the Bo$$.

Well, there you have it, my top beauty products! I have a couple other products I use here and there, but these are the MVPs. It’s incredible what a difference finding the perfect beauty products can make. Like I’ve said before, life is too short to wear jeans that don’t fit; the same goes with foundation. Life is too short to wear crappy foundation that doesn’t match your skin tone.

If you have any questions about any of the products I’ve listed, or just feel like chatting about makeup, feel free to reach out!!

*This post is in no way sponsored by bareMinerals, I just genuinely love their products.
